Sponsor Renews Play Area Sponsorship with Pavilion at Port Orange

After five years of successful sponsorship, Halifax Health opted to not only renew its play area sponsorship at the Pavilion at Port Orange, but also worked with PLAYTIME to create a brand-new play experience for the community.

Port Orange, FL is located just south of Daytona and the Pavilion at Port Orange is one of the area’s premier outdoor lifestyle centers, according to Mandy York, Marketing Director with CBL Properties, Inc. The center opened in 2010 and Halifax Health sponsored the first and only outdoor play area at the center.

The original play area was pirate themed with a giant pirate ship, sand crabs, a treasure chest and poured-in-place rubber flooring. As the five-year sponsorship was coming to a close, Halifax Health again expressed a desire to sponsor the play area but they wanted to do something different, says York.

“Everyone loved the pirate ship but it took up a lot of space,” explains York. “Halifax Health wanted to use the space better with smaller play elements so that they could put more into the area.”

The new outdoor play area boasts a backyard/pond theme, with a large treehouse, rock bridge, frog on a lily pad, boat and flowers. There is also new seating surrounding the inside of the play area, too, which York says parents are very happy about.

Additionally, Halifax Health was able to place its logo on more of the play elements, contributing to the value of its sponsorship.

“Halifax Health also sponsors the nearby walking trail that loops around the lake,” says York. “They have banners along the trail and they sponsor walks and events around the park. They have a big presence at one of the most popular shopping and fitness destinations for families.”

As proof of the sponsor’s exposure to Port Orange’s families, a mom blog even posted a notice of the new play area’s grand opening event and shared this information, as well:

“By the way, the old playground did not end up in a landfill (yay!). It was donated [by the Pavilion at Port Orange] to [Halifax Health’s] Child and Adolescent Behavioral Services (HBS) division, so the 3,000 kids in the community they help each year can use it. Their facility had the space for a playground, but was lacking anything fun for the kids to do in that space. Halifax Health took the necessary measures to have the old playground (which is only as old as the Pavilion, so around 5 years or so) moved over to the HBS day treatment program for children. Awesome!”

York says that PLAYTIME also cooperated with Halifax Health during removal of the old play area to transport all the pieces to the hospital’s facility.

“Working with PLAYTIME is great,” says York. “They’ve always been wonderful.”
